Porters League Season 1

Overview

Dignifying the hardwork of our porters the #1stPortersBasketballLeague was organized by:

Filanthropic Sports: Cebu Summit Basketball Club led by President Kurt Amores in coordination with Cebu Port Authority under the leadership of GM Kit Commendador and JCI METRO CEBU UPTOWN headed by President Diego Busa and #1stPortersBasketballLeague Commissioner Boy Te.

Four participating shipping lines, namely: Medallion Transport Inc., Lite Shipping Corporation – Lite Ferries, Roble Shipping Inc, and Trans-Asia Shipping Lines, Inc. boosted the morale of their very own porter’s to hoop in the #1stPortersBasketballLeague.

To provide incentive to the porter players, they were provided with FREE Jerseys, FREE Shoes through the shoe donation drive organized by Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu and their SHS Batch 2001, FREE health kits by IPI Foundation, Inc., 5kgs of rice per best player through LT Trading Rice & Corn Station CEBU, in game recording and photos provided by ZEEX Sports, and many more benefits.

To officiate the games was is the country’s basketball association recognized by FIBA Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) SBP Region 7.

And in case of emergencies, the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation Official paramedics were on standby to provide immediate health service.

In attendance at the opening were Cebu City Acting Mayor Hon. Atty. Raymond Alvin Garcia represented by Atty. Ron Guinto, Cebu City Councilor Jun Amigo Alcover, Cong. Wilbert T. Lee represented by his staff, Roble Shipping President Joy Roble, ACMobility HONDA CARS CEBU AVP Bryan Carl Enerio, JCI-Zugbuana, and the family and peers of the porters.

About #1stPortersBasketballLeague: The 1st Porter’s League, as the first ever of its kind in the country, presents an opportune platform to seamlessly align with the overarching goals of addressing climate change in alignment with Sustainable Development Goals, UN Environment Programme through their Sports for Nature program, Philippine Development Plan 2023 – 2028, and JCI’s mission for mankind.

This convergence not only enhances the social impact of Porter’s League but also integrates environmental conservation efforts in the project.
